Psalm 126:2-3 = Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, "The Lord has done great things for them." The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.
When I think of all the great things God's done for me in my lifetime it's very overwhelming. So then I think of the things He's done just in the 17 years I've been engaged/married to Mike. That's still a long list but much more manageable.
~ Brought 2 people from opposite sides of the country (California and Virginia) together using a little thing called the internet.
~ Gave me friends and a new family in California when I moved there.
~ Didn't let me commit suicide on a rainy day in February, 2001 by putting roadblocks in my plan.
~ Blessed us with a minivan when my little car was totalled. We only had 1 child…seemed like a waste of money/space. BUT…
~ Blessed us with 4 cute, adorable, funny, smart, silly, but also sinful kids to train and raise.
~ Brought us to Virginia in 2004 - 5 years to the day from when I drove into California.
~ Job and house very quickly after moving here
~ Medicaid when we found out Alec was on the way - we didn't get maternity insurance coverage because SURELY I wouldn't get pregnant! :P
~ 4 c-sections without complications
~ Brought me out of the pit of an addicting sin into freedom from the bondage of that sin September 14, 2007
~ Gave us a bigger house with a HUGE yard
~ Provided ALL our needs when Mike was fired from his job in 2010
~ Sold our house AND provided Mike with a job - in the same week
~ Got me through a hysterectomy in 2012 even with complications (once again saving my life)
~ 11 years with an awesome church family that has spoiled us for any other church
~ Unity with Mike in making the decision to leave that church
~ My dream job at my dream hospital
Whew! What a long list! That doesn’t even include all the little things God's done that I can't put into words. When I look at that list though I can't help but be FILLED WITH JOY!! :D God is SO good!! So faithful! So loving and merciful and gracious and giving and forgiving and kind and gentle! How can I NOT be thankful?!
When we recount God's faithfulness and provision for us - that not only fills US with joy but that reminds others of the truth about our God and fills THEM with joy! "It was said among the nations…" Future generations can be blessed by knowing how God provided for us. That's mind-boggling!
