We are all seeking to be loved, aren't we? We look for love from our husbands or our kids or our parents or our friends. But we rarely find what we're looking for!
True love, true contentment can only be found in our Father! Not in the people around us.
It's hard to believe this home-schooling mom of 4 kids who works 12-20 hours a week can be restless and bored but it happens. I tend to turn on Netflix and watch an episode (or two) of CSI or West Wing. Do you think that satisfies my boredom? Maybe for a moment but not long term.
It's when I wrap up in a blanket and open my Bible, put praise music on, and open my heart to the Friend of Sinners that I find that satisfaction and contentment. It's when I rest in Jesus, when I REMAIN in Him that I find the joy, peace, and love I've been searching for.
On page 44 Lysa says, "Instead of resting my heart in the unrealistic hope that others will make my joy complete, I have to rest my heart with Jesus only. Remain in Him. Obey Him….Then my joy will be complete…because I am secure in the fact that God loves me!"
DISCUSSION: What about you - where do you rest instead of at Jesus' feet?
