I've heard these verses most of my life, particularly in regards to making major life decisions: college, a major, marriage, moving, jobs, etc. While it's true God DOES have a plan for us, the point of this passage is the love and care our Father has for us.
On page 24 Lysa says, "I will listen to you" and "you will find me" made God seem so personal, so touchable, so interested in a relationship with me. ME?"
WOW! I'm blown away! When I read past verse 11 and take ownership of verses 12 and 13 I'm astounded. The King of Kings and Lord of Lords, the Creator of the universe not only LOVES me, but WANTS to have a relationship with me!
He doesn't love me because I'm a "good Bible study girl" or I do all the right things all the time. He doesn't desire a relationship with me because of anything I do or don't do. It's simply because I. AM. HIS. CHILD.
This is what this book is all about. It's not learning how to say the right words or do the right things. It's about SEEKING a relationship with our Heavenly Father who loves us enough that He sent His Son - His perfect Son - to die in my place!
DISCUSSION: How have you, in the past, let your "good girl checklist" (page 24) affect your relationship with God?
