Yesterday, my oldest pointed a verse out to me and we decided this would be a great one as a theme for Windsor Oaks Academy.
Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future. (Proverbs 19:20 ESV) For the last 6 years I've been praying for a verse that would shape our home school. For 6 years I've searched without finding the perfect one. Well, God used my tender-hearted 12yo to point me in the right direction, at the right time. E and I are already strategizing for how we can paint it on our dining room wall (where we do most of our school) or maybe get someone to paint it for us and put it in a frame. I think this is every teacher (and mother) heart's cry...that our children/students will listen to what we're saying so they'll be wise. Wait, what's the difference in wisdom and knowledge? In my opinion, knowledge is the actual facts and wisdom is applying those facts. We can know the Pythagorean theorem but if we don't apply it, it's useless. We can know the facts in the Bible but if we're not applying those to our lives it's not active. So my prayer for my 4 students that are also my precious children, is that as they grow in KNOWLEDGE they will also grow in WISDOM!! |
